December 2007 Speaker Series
December 5
CLUB ASSEMBLY - President Al and other Club Leaders
Topics: "We Can Do It" . . . and here's how we've been doing it!
We will elect new Club Directors (for 2008-10) Mark Foster, Karen Kerry and Len Stenger and President-Nominee Lou Callaway, and reelect Secretary and Treasurer Downs Herold and John Ackenhusen (absent nominations from the floor, of course) at this annual Ann Arbor Rotary Club event. But that will be just the beginning of President Al's version of our Club Assembly, during which we will be reminded of all it means to be an Ann Arbor Rotarian and what our committees have been and will be doing this year.
December 12
Pioneer High School Choirs, Directed by Kenneth Westerman
2008 Holiday Concert
We're a club that cherishes and revels in music, which we usually provide for ourselves. But each December we get to enjoy music of a higher order presented with youthful enthusiasm and great skill and feeling by the young men and women of the Pioneer Choirs, under the leadership of Honorary Paul Harris Fellow Ken Westerman. Bring spouses, children, parents, friends, neighbors for a special holiday full course meal and great singing in the beautiful surroundings of the Union Ballroom as we share this annual highlight of the Ann Arbor Rotary calendar.
December 19
Speaker: Mary Sue Coleman, President, The University of Michigan
Topic: The State of the University, Heading into 2009
President Coleman, Honorary Rotarian and friend to us all, will stroll across the plaza to give us her unique perspective on the challenge of leading a world-class university in a state with world-class problems. Perhaps she'll share her Christmas wish-list with us. Universally acclaimed new football coach, perhaps? More stable state budgetary support? Effective, constitutionally accept-able way to increase diversity in the student body? Whatever, we can be sure she will deliver her message with customary charm, grace and candor. Be early to be sure of a good seat. Come with questions . . . leave with answers.
Dec 26 (and January 2, too)

Our regular luncheon meetings resume on January 9, 2008
